Are there any of you guys who are using it?
I have one but haven´t given it a fair chance yet. I don´t get how to use it (angle of the sharpening etc.) sort of, and thats why I´m asking.
Thanks,
// Mats

For planing bamboo, I grind the bevel to 30* and hone at 35*. I find the edge holds up better at that steeper than average angle. For woodworking, I grind at
25* and hone at 30*. There is no need to grind first, but a hollow grind sharpens faster as you do not need to hone the whole bevel only the edge. Kurt

I go 30 degrees on all my 9½ based planes (Lie Nielsen, chromed dome Stanley block plane and two 9½´s) for final planing, but this is way too low an angle on the already low 60½ which has a way of lifting no matter how sharp you get it. Is there a trick to it? Thanks,

mats,
Try your bevel at 40 to 45 degrees and then it acts almost like a scraper Jeff |

Thanks for that Jeff. Appreciated.
I use the scraper to adjust the 60 degree angle on the strips if I´m a bit off, so this sound interesting. Regards, // Mats |

Mats,
Please Drop me a line and let me know if it works the same for you. The herd of planes on the cave wall has several 60 1/2's and I really like them. Scrounging old planes has been good lately and the wall now has over 15 of the buggers. Talk about a pain to sharpen. Glad I have my Tormek!!!!!!!!! Jeff |

Will do, Jeff.
Hey, some stash of planes there huh? Yes, the Tormek is a great thing. I just became aware that there are 4000 grit stones for it. Must have...
