Posts: 14 08/28/2008 12:19	Tags : None I research the history of and collect the angling equipment made by Richard Wheatley during their 150 year history. The earliest agents in the USA that I have so far discovered are; in the Eastern States Thompson- Tolly Co., P.O. Box 478 , Lisle, Illinios 60532; and in the Western States, Hank Roberts, Box 171, Boulder, Colorado. Does anyone know anything about these two companies that I can add to the history page of the museum's website (www.richardwheatleymuseum.org) or can you tell me of an earlier agent. Even small snippets make for interesting reading. If you know of any other information about Wheatleys, their agents and staff which could be added to the website then that also will be gratefully received Many thanks

Posts: 2141 08/28/2008 15:50 Moderatus Muscae	Even earlier, in the Western states, the 1949 catalog for Dave Cook Sporting Goods of Denver, Colorado shows "Wheatly" (sic) Imported English Dry Fly Boxes on page 65. The text begins "Available again in limited quantities..." Perhaps this implies that boxes were available prior to World War II, and then were available again after the war...? "Wheatly" Imported English Dry Fly Boxes Available again in limited quantities, these are the finest of all dry fly boxes. Each compartment closed by separate transparent lid with spring latch. Made of aluminum, handsomely finished. Postage 10 cents each. No. 9-B-6 6 compartment ....... $4.69 No. 9-B-7 12 compartment ......$7.59 No. 9-B-8 16 compartment ......$9.85 The 1938 Paul H. Young (Detroit, Michigan, USA) catalog shows imported fly boxes of English origin that certainly look like Wheatley boxes in the pictures, but they are not identified as such. Quashnet's Paul H. Young Rod Database has photos and descriptions of 325 PHY Co. rods, plus catalogs, accessories, etc. Thank you to all who continue to send me PHY rod photos and info.

Can any member elsewhere in the world extend the period in their own country as we have no records of agents before 1968 although we know that they existed. Many many thanks flyboxfan
