When we arrived Joe and Wilma wee out on their big John Deer bringing in the Hay.
After a brief visit we told Joe we were headed up to the Lake Fork to fish. He immediately offered to put us on some private water below the ranch. He told us
he had a couple of friends fish it about a month ago and they "done real well" and nobody else had fished it this summer. Rick started to explain how
we didn't want to put him out or be a bother but I just walked around to the back of the truck and started putting my boots on! I make it a firm rule that
when somebody offers some private water I take them up on it!
Joe was kind enough to give us a 4 wheeler for the short ride to the river and went down with us to show us where to go in and where to get out.
It was about 1/2 to 3/4 mile of river to fish and we set about it. It took us about 3 1/2 hours to fish it and between us we caught over 60 fish! That's
amazing enough but what's even better is that they were all brown trout with the majority being in the 13-16" range and all were taken on dry flies!

Afterwards, we headed back to the ranch to thank Joe and Wilma for their hospitality. Joe asked if we had a good time. Yea, not bad.
Well, he says, why don't you come back tomorrow and do it again! He said he wouldn't be there but he would leave a 4 wheeler at the ranch house for us.
We said that would be just fine and after a little more visit we saddled up and headed up to the Lake Fork.
At the Lake Fork we found the campgrounds full and the river crowded with fishermen. We fished for an hour or so and caught a couple of fish but couldn't
get too enthused about it after our experience earlier. We found a wide spot above the river that would accomodate the truck and trailer and set about making
dinner. Salad, baked potatoes, sweet corn and Elk Tenderloins!
After a good nights sleep we got up, had breakfast and headed back to the ranch. We did not catch as many fish the second day but got some really nice
17-18" ers. Same story, all browns and all on dry fly's! Needless to say it was a pretty good 2 days of fishing!
