Hello all,
Thought since I cruise around the site and have posted a couple of times I would introduce myself. I've a fly fisherman and tier who lives and works in Calgary Alberta as a graphic artist. We're blessed here with the Bow river a world class fishery. I've fished with bamboo since the mid 60's and own a couple of Canadian built rods. My rods are not the high end beauties often seen and pictured here but rather what is often refered to here as low end serviceable rods that have been fished well since the 50's by my Dad before me. They do give me a lot of joy. I do buy the odd one but my budget is small and mostly for rebuilds. The information here has been wonderful, and it's nice to dream and hope for that garage or barn find (I discovered the insanity in ebay).
I do fish a variety of rods and spey cast here for trout and for Steelhead in BC. When I do take out the grass rod it usually attracts a lot of attention and questions which I consider good for trhe sport. One of these days Some day I will splurge and get a rod by one of our local builders (Don Anderson being one). Thanks for a great site.
