Posts: 327 08/18/2008 18:51	Tags : None I do not have any idea how someone would let this happen....but it did. 9 fly lines stored without marking them.........Orvis, Cortland, SA and one Rio......all 2 to 5 years old....used, owner has 6 rods (ugh graphite) 3,4,5,7,8 wt rods...so I assume these lines came off reels used on these rods. Medical condition and heavy use of medication is blocking memory of this 49 yr.old gentlemen. Does anyone have a weight (grams) chart of lines....DT and WF? Posts: 567 08/19/2008 01:50	Weights are for the first 30', including the taper, but excluding the level portion (tricky to weigh just those portions). Also you can do a quick estimate for floating lines if you have a micrometer: belly of 6 wt floater is usually around .053" and each line size up or down differs by .005". Thus a line with a belly of .058" is likely to be a #7. Lines and brands do vary, but those diameters are usually close and miking will at least give a cross check to the results of weighing. Posts: 149 08/19/2008 15:37	I have the Umpqua fly line scale, it is inexpensive and easy to use. It has the marks for the various fly line line weights in both grams and grains. By the way, there is not a difference in weight between a DT & WF line, the difference is how the weight is distributed.
