(3) Seven foot rods, a 3,4 and 5wt. Now I only need a 1 and a 2wt for a full set. . .
The first 7' rod is a Brooks Leonard 3734 AMC 3/2 it's a 3wt. The second rod is a Calviello CT704 SSS it's a 2/2 4wt. The latest is the Edwards Quad # 41 2/2 5wt. My wife Joanie has a 6'-3" midge rod 2/2 4wt built by Dwayne @ Faquary rods, its nodeless. |

6' 3" PHY Midge (made by AJ) for all the reasons stated earlier and when a 7 footer is just too much. Very versatile and capable of handling larger
waters and fish as well.

A 7'6" 3/2 3wt built to a Payne 195 taper. A fine delicate, med. fast 3wt that handles line very nicely. I love her for the smaller trout I'm used
to in the spring creeks of W. Wisconsin. Typically I use a 4wt but at times when I know the winds will be low it's a fine little rod.
She's done up on a Hal Bacon blank (great woodwork!) and finished out by Geo. Guba who finished it up nicely indeed. When I know a hatch is imminent it's a real trip to fish! Jeremy. |

A 5'6" one piece 4wt. Translated Sante's 8014 Guide's stress curve into a small stream pocket rocket. A very interesting excersise that turned
out to be not half bad if I say so myself. Jay what's mending or nymphs for that matter, it's all about point and shoot, drop the fly in a bucket size
pocket, either the fly disappears or you pick up and hit the next one! Tim

A 6'8" Dennis Stone rod build on an FET taper. PLENTY of backbone in this rod. The little streams I usually use this one on, mending isn't
possible. Great rod and fun to fish. Dennis' rods are first class in fit and finish.
Pat "He told us about Christ's disciples being fisherman, and we were left to assume...that all great fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly
fisherman and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman."

5'9" 4wt, 2pc, Dart by Clifford Constable. An appropriate name for a quick and accurate little rod.
A pure delight for pocket picking on Cascade streams. TC |

Mine is a 6' 2/2 3wt Thomas and Thomas (picture below). Its a very sweet casting rod, with easy 30' plus casts. Mending doesn't seem to be an
issue as it has some strength in its tip section to pop the line up and over the water if I need to mend up or down stream. Ric

My shortest rod is a 4'4" 4weight using AJ's taper, pictured with a Spruce Creek brown nearly half the length of the rod. However the short
rod I really prefer is a 5'0" 4wt using Chris Bogart's Blue Ridge Banty taper (pictured in my avatar).

I only have one rod under 71/2' and thats a 61/2', 2/2 for a 3 wt. As I fish larger streams, rivers , most of the time the 3 wt. gets little use.

If you change the question to past tense it was a T&T TTT seven foot two weight. I'm sure Darrell (Flynuki) is still fishing his.

dryflyRSW, that is truly amazing that size fish on a 4'4, that must have given you some fight,I took a brown that size on a 6'3 Binney midge , 4weight
rod, what a brawl that was. I dont know if I would want to handle a brown with a 4'4 tho ..Paul

I happened to be in Mike Clark's shop last week and saw a fellow board member from the east coast's tiny rod almost complete. I believe it was a
6'6", had full olive geen intermeditates to match olive colored reel seat (I cannot remember the wood rosewood perhaps). It was stunning in its
cosmetics.
Personally, the smallest rod I use is a 7' Phillipson 4 wt. But I am even wondering if it is too small as it does not get much work. Small stream pocketwater where you have to keep the line off the water is best fished with a longer rod and my go to rod for that is a 7'9" Jennings. So for me 7'9" is the smallest rod I fish regularly. |

The big brown did put up a nice fight, I though for sure the rod was going to break. I was waiting for lunch to be served and as a kick I grabbed the rod, a single #18 size fly and a pair of forceps and thought I'd make a few casts to see if I could catch a fish or two before lunch. I made a few casts under an overhanking tree and the big brown sucked in the fly and a few minutes later I landed the fish, w/o a net. I'm just glad it wasn't a rainbow of that size, I probably would not have landed it. dryflyRSW |

dryflyRSW, Dont sell Browns short, they are a vicious fighting fish, I spent most of the time running down the stream after the one I caught on that 6'3
midge rod, finally beached it .... was at a local very small stream near where I reside recently, a gentlemen was fishing with a graphite Cabelas rod, I
believe it was a 5' rated for a 2 weight line. Now that was tiny, I wouldnt like to catch anything bigger than 6-8 inches on that. The rod believe it or not
was a moderate to slow flex two piece. Amazing stuff coming from overseas ..Paul
