Can someone inlighten me on the orginallity of this rod. I also would like to know what year it was manufactured. It looks like it was restored many years ago
but I can't be sure. Thanks for your time.

Hmmmmmmmmmm........
Late SB Cross, interestingly enough at 8'6" and rated HEH it could well cast a 4wt!!! I gather from the photos that the ferrule are chrome plated German silver. If so, then the rod is probably either just pre-WWII or post-WWII. It would be very interesting to cast a double built 4wt!! Rod was never ever inexpensive. What's important is how does it cast for you? The rod would have been absolutely top of the line at SB when made... and the best quality they could put out... but that doesn't tell you how it will cast... only casting will do that. I'd start with a DT5 and work down to a WF4....... Ralph |

The markings as shown in the photos are all factory original and most of the wraps I can see, ecept for the one on the ferrule in the last photo, also appear
to be original. That was one of the best selling models at the time it was made. Is there also an oval decal indicating doublebuilt, or a light oval area on
the butt section suggesting it may have once had one?
