Does anyone know the line rating for a Pezon et Michel PPP Montana 'type Batault' 7'9" 4-1/4 oz? Also, this rod does not appear in the Pezon
listings - any knowledge of its history?
Thanks in advance, John |

not sure about this but most Pezons in this length were solid 6 weights. the weight of the rod would indicate that too, so my guess would be either 6 or 7
weight.

Must be an unusual Pezon et Michel build because it went for a bundle. I thought this was a very unusually high price for one of their rods, but then I
don't know anything about their rods. Also the buyer was from France. hmmm.
Those old fishermen: They're slow-moving and crabby and some of them talk to themselves, but they can catch trout.

I believe Claude Batault was for some time, probably in the 60's, the consul general of France in San Francisco. Living in the U.S., I think he used the
rod here in the States, so I think the rod was designed with U.S. fishing in mind.

This rod was 7'9", the Batault Long Cast rod was originally 8'5" so this may be a rare length for that model.

Claude Batault often came to the Missoula area of Western Montana to fish with his friend Henry Bugbee and other noted fly fishers.
