I'm gonna toss in something interesting. The Playboy Philosophy, Parts I. First published in 1962. Includes installments 1-7. All articles (no pics), all written by Hef himself.

These just came into my library, and I only know Hugh Hefner from what I have gleamed from 1985 to now, especially now with the TV show on E.

Amazingly well written. This guy was very grounded to his way of thinking.

I'm still on on book 1 of the 4 I own.. its all text. I read...

Parker--America's Finest Shotgun by Peter Johnson. Not engrossing prose, but an interesting reference book.

Re-reading Arnold Gingrich's The Well-Tempered Angler.

Just finished Gierach's new book Fool's Paradise.

Will be re-visiting Robert Traver's Trout Madness next. I have to re-read this book every few years. It's a treasure!

Yankee For Life by Bobby Murcer. The story of a player from my youth who started playing in the majors when I was playing Little League ball. I actually saw him play in "the Old Yankee Stadium". An early Father's Day gift from my 22-year-old daughter; we waited in line for 90 minutes to have Bobby sign the book. Thanks Jennifer!

On my nightstand you'll find this collection of books just read, being read,
and to be read.

Currently I'm reading Harry Middleton's "The Earth is Enough", and "Tessin" by Hermann Hesse.

I just finished John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" and "Cannery Row", and enjoyed both
immensely.

Finished Gierach's book and a history book about the behind-the-scenes actions when Churchill and the British decided to go to war with Hitler in 1940. I'd rather read about fishing! I'm just starting Divisadero by Michael Ondaatje - we'll see how this one goes.

Reading both Bill Tapply's "Trout Eyes' and Ed Engle's 'Splitting Cane", with a few chapters left in each. Both read like story telling from old friends... Bill writes with his usual genuineness and well crafted prose (from his American Angler columns); and, Ed has come close to matching John Gierach in turning what could have been a boring recount of interviews with rod makers into an informative, but fun read.

The Arte Of Angling 1577 The copy I just acquired is the 1957 reprint done by Princeton University press and came from the Darbee's Library. 8-)

Great Book - easy read - edited by Laureie Morrow - got it for a 5 spot on Ebay signed a couple of months ago.

I have really enjoyed his writing style

Just finished "Casting a Spell", and am currently re-reading the Collected Works of Reynolds Price. The preliminary draft has begun on my next attempt and the actual writing should begin sometime in June.
