Alan, thanks. And, yes, Jeff builds some very smart looking and fine fishing fly rods. This has been my year for quads. I have picked up 5. Unfortunately, I had to sell one along the way to help pay for these bad habits. In the shorter length rods, they are, I believe, superior. As the rod gets longer, the hexes are my favorite due to a small (reduced) weight advantage (IMHO). I am already talking to Jeff about my next quad. In my minds eye, it is caramel colored cane, with matching carmamel...

That is such a sweet looking combo you have there. I just picked up my first Quad this year. They are fun and I thought a bit faster as well as powerful. I think Jeff has built many of the best looking rods I've ever seen.

Picked up a Wayne Maca 8'3" for a five weight yesterday. He has slowed the taper down and it seems to cast a DT 5 fine. I cannot wait to get it on the water. Wayne built a similar rod for a fly fishing author who is also impressed.

The Wagner and the Godfrey are great looking combo. If I do hookup with Glenn I'll ask him about your rod. If I don't give him a call he's usually available at his Butte home/shop except Wed & Sun when he's in Twin shop.

Dennis, thanks for the nice note. I would liken the taper of this Wagner to one similar to my Carlson quad. a nice medium taper, a little on the fast side, but not too much so, with a little umph in the taper as you deliver the completed cast. It's a great taper! The reel, of course, is a Godfrey. Hard not to have put that reel on the rod given the black silk and engraved nickel silver hardware. It's like they were meant for each other. I too am likely a year out on my Spittler order,...

Beautiful rod and the reel looks super on it. How would you describe the action? Those quads do grow on you. It looks like my Spittler Quad won't be delivered until late summer-fall of 09. I'm really looking forward to that rod. One of these days I'll get around to updating my collection but with this economy it may have a few changes shortly. Attached are two pictures of my just received Wagner quad. This rod, just finished by Jeff Wagner, is a 7'3" 2/2 rated for a 4/5 weight line. I was able to lawn cast it yesterday for a few minutes and it is one of the nicest short bamboo rods I have ever cast. Able to cast line to 60' with a single haul, and yet delicate enough to make a very light cast to 10' with the line floating down and softly touching the grass. A package just arrived at my door... shhhhhhhhhh!!! Lee Koch and I conspired to furnish me with a PHY Encampment clone after I cast it at SRG. Lee being the man he is insisted on taking it back up to Lincoln, NE and cleaning it all up before he'd let me have it... what a guy!!

Payne model 400 sold at Abercrombie & Fitch (and so marked) 9' 8wt Dry Fly Salmon rod. One tip is 'original, 1 a replacement. Rod will be used for SH and LL Salmon.

I recently came across a wonderful little med/ fast 7ft 3/2 3wt hollowbuilt that tips the scales at a gentle 2.6 oz. that Mpls. rodmaker Dave Norling has allowed me.

At a recent caneophiles gathering in neighboring Wisconsin this fall, this was cast by a few folks. The word got to me and I fell in love yet again!

Maybe I'm easy but when you have a rod that handles an SA WF3F GPX line as good as this one does it's tough to say you'll...

NorthBranch, that Winchester 7' 3wt is one superb looking little rod.

I can imagine how smooth and delicate it'll cast. Lucky you!! And the cork on that grip is spectacular indeed. Wish I were in your shoes. Congratulations on the finds!!

Another Eustis creation. This is one just prior to his death. It is an 8'-6" A&F Triton with the writing on the butt in Eustis's handwriting. The rod is unique not only in the spectacular signature wraps but in that is comes with three tips. The extra tip is a tad lighter (4wt) than the others may be an Edwards replacement.
