I know that Dickerson´s are popular, greendarke. But this modified AND star-hollowed thing was so smooth so I just had to ask Steve to make me one. I have somehing to look forward to here....

I cast a copy of the raffle rod on grass. It was the rod that Steve made for himself. Some rods talk to me at once, some rods need
some time and some rods pisses me off. Just like people. This one stole my heart. I want one!

Your a lucky guy. I saw the rod at the show it the pictures dont do it justice. I casted a few of his rods as well and they are very nice.

I cast? casted? castigated? (Not) the double parabolic "Sinusoidal" (I think that's right) 8-sider. I found it easy to cast with my slower stroke. I could feel the subtle bump of the hinge (which one?....hmmm...I'm gonna say the lower one) when a shorter amount of line was out, then it went smooth with a longer length when the butt area began working more. I think Jerry enjoys practical testing of the kind of design stuff that some of us only wonder about.

Folks, don't let Jerry quit talking about the rods he brought to the fair. Ask questions ...

He had a pile of cane in sky blue socks, no cases, just socks. Most, if not all, were 8-sided. It was my belief that he used the same taper on four of them, with the exception that he changed the tip taper every four inches -- all that work to just let people feel what a small change made.

Thanks to everyone, what a great event. I would particularly like to thank the ladies at the campground for putting up with my BS and feeding me. Thanks to Greg and Joe and their lovely wives for a great evening.

Mats Oberg was a delight as were his rods..(my new rocket scientist friend), Chris Carlin makes a wonderful rod, but everyone knows that...I second Tim's comments about Kileys newest work...Chris McDowell had some nice...

Happy times.

A nicer person could not have won Steve's rod. For three, maybe four years, we camped below Tim at Canyon Creek. He is a good man.

I thought Tim was going to squeeze imprints into the rod case. Not kidding.

He was so happy. Tim said he never won anything in his life and this made up for all the raffles, etc.

I am the lucky winner of this beautiful rod.
As usual, photos do not equal the full visual impact of this very handsome piece.

The first rod that I cast on Saturday morning was a copy of this rod. At the time, I did not know it was the same as the rod being auctioned.

At a gathering like this there are so many rods to cast. Of all those rods only a few leave a lasting impression. This modified 8013 is one of those rods. It casts short, it casts long, it casts itself....
