			<description><![CDATA[ This one appears to be a very late Murphy rod. Murphy halved the spacing on intermediate wraps between the tiptop and 1st guide and between the last tip guide
and the male ferrule. This is the only one that I&#39;ve seen without the doubled intermediates. The condition of the rod is immaculate. Her rod beats my two
of a kind.

			<description><![CDATA[ I get contacted by rod owners about 5-10 times per week. Appraisals, ID Grandpa&#39;s rod , help them write their item descriptions, help them set their
reserve prices when they sell Grandpa&#39;s rod, etc.  It&#39;s a PITA normally. The strange part is that if I tell an owner that hisher rod is not special or
fine enough to sell for more than $200, $350, $400, etc - I get thanked as a good guy.  If I tell an owner that the rod is an important, historical piece and
should sell for $2000 or... ]]></description>

after she relisted the rod with that $5,000 figure. She had quoted my web page on Murphy pretty freely.  I mailed her a link to this topic on this board so

			<description><![CDATA[ At Lang&#39;s last November, an incredibly nice Murphy in 1/2/3 format sold for $3575 after buyer&#39;s premium. All sections were full length except for one
tip. It was nicer in terms of condition, but did not have the black pin pricks or cup mark bruises from &quot;clamping&quot; for planing. I paid $1900 for my
Murphy at Sotheby&#39;s in 2001. I&#39;m hopeful that this simply indicates that high end rods and reels appreciate faster than others, especially when there

			<description><![CDATA[ The good news is that the Murphy rod has been re-listed. The bad news is that the guy found my web page on Murphy and now thinks that he owns the Mother Lode.
It&#39;s been relisted at $5000 or Best Offer. On the plus side, the pictures are better. The rod has both tips after all and apparently the black pin pricks
that are discussed in AJ Campbell&#39;s book and that appear on the Gnome&#39;s rod.  That makes it an early Murphy rod as well.  --Tom
