        <![CDATA[ As for me, not yet.


I take more short trips.  I cut back on other things, like bad movies and bad meals in fancy restaurants, so I can afford my fishing trips.


So far, so good, but it seems to be the way of the future.  Something will have to give.


I live in Texas, where traveling is a way of life.  Guys (and gals) are going to keep the big pickups and SUV&#39;s, no matter what.

			<description><![CDATA[ Yes it has. I&#39;ve already nixed a few days this season. It&#39;s about 35 - 40 mins to Craig section of the Missouri. I may supplement fishing the Craig
area with fishing in town here at Great Falls.  Too many summer projects calling for the gas money that I would normally use in running back and forth to
Craig.

			<description><![CDATA[ I&#39;m fortunate. I live on the Rogue river and six miles from The Applegate river. The North Umpqua is less thn two hours away. Ive kinda died and went to
heaven. Before I moved up here my local water (eastern Sierra) was a 5 hour drive. Would be tough on the pocket book right now. On the other hand Oregon has
mandated our gas to be 10% ethonal. It&#39;s not all its cracked up to be. My gas milage has gone down from 21miles a gal to about 18. And the price is getting
close to 4 bucks a gal... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ My trip to see my mom yesterday on her 88th birthday cost me $150 in gas roundtrip. Going to the Miramichi and back in July will cost me twice that (at least.
Prices will probably rise even more). But trust me, I&#39;m going. I, like several others here, know what its like to almost lose everything to health
problems. I&#39;ll die broke, but I&#39;m going fishing. LOL, and I guess I&#39;ll be spending my big tax incentive check in Canada. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ As I live on the Rogue, and only have to drive up 15 miles to put the boat in, and have a lot of water within 50 mi. isn&#39;t a problem so far, what is a
problem, is the water this year, where it should be around 2400 cfs this time of year, this year it is 6800 cfs this morning. It will slow the Salmon fly hatch
but I should quit crying about that we can always use the water. Monty call me the Rogue isn&#39;t looking to good, but I have a piece of water that should be
good in a week and its... ]]></description>

economy, this ain&#39;t going to be a great year for either foreign or domestic travel. Personally, I decided I could live without a two week trip to Wyoming
and a week in Central Oregon this year. It&#39;s not just the price of gas, but more of a consumer confidence thing, I think. Even a local fishing trip is a

of Frequent Flier miles, so I usually just hop a plane and rent a car... not this year!!!  All of the &quot;cheap seats&quot; are already spoken for this far
out from mid-July and the airlines have cut back on the number of cheap &quot;miles&quot; seats as well.  The other option is to fly Southwest... but even that
is up to $300+ round... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Petrol is now circa $10 a gallon here .... and most other things cost around double or more also.

We are also being overtaken by oil seed rape to convert to &#39;bio fuel&#39; ... great idea ... but it is replacing wheat, etc because the profit is higher -
soon we will have an &#39;environmentally friendly fuel&#39; while we cannot afford bread. Cutting down on fishing is not an option - it is the therapy.

			<description><![CDATA[ Regarding the comments made about the shape of roads in certain areas, I am not an expert, but my understanding is that the feds dole out the money to the
states based on some sort of formula.  The feds do not say which roads to fix; they just give the  states the means.

My understanding is not for a lack of crude oil but a lack of refineries.
<br>
That gets back to the can&#39;t haveyou cake and eat it too mentallity.
<br>
If we are so dependant on gasoline and refined oil - I would think the multi-billion $$ profits of the oil companies should be able to figure something out.
<br>
They need to be built somewhere. ]]></description>
