I've found it hard to reply to this since it's so very personal. I had the great good fortune to be mentored by Mr. Harvey 40 years ago, when he was a
frequent visitor to our camp in central PA, and I was a budding flyfisher 11 years old. ( He was a friend and fishing companion of my godfather)He opened up a
world to me which I am still immersed in, and for which I will be forever grateful. I didn't realize what a singular opportunity this was until many years
later, but I never...

He was a very warm and decent man. In the spring a 1995 my wife and I attended a fly fishing expo at Seven Springs resort here in SW Pennsylvania. Karen's
not interested in fishing, but I lured her into going with a promise of a nice lunch. Karen rapidly lost interest in fishing tackle and found a comfortable
chair to pass the time with a paperback. I came back after about an hour to check on her, and found her in deep conversation with George. She had no idea who
he was, but they'd...

Sad News indeed! I met George once, at the 50th anniversary gathering of the Fly-Fishers'Club of Harrisburg, in 1997. He was as sharp as a tack at that
ripe age. I asked him to autograph his chapter in "Limestone Legends" entitled, "We teach Fly Fishing at Penn State...". He agreed, then
immediately turned to the first page, (p. 311) and corrected the two errors, informing me that "it should have read 35 million fishermen" instead of
700 million and...

This is very sad news. Mr. Harvey was a wonderful teacher, mentor, and human being. I remember fondly his generosity to the Penn State Fly Fishing Club
several years ago when I lived in Central PA. He would come to the club meetings and demonstrate numerous fly patterns and then look over our shoulders to
coach us along. His stories and memories of days gone by where priceless to hear and I will always cherish those memories. I extend my heartfelt sorrow to
his family.
