Farlow 'Regal' 3 1/2" wide drum...

I've just come across this little lovely...am fondling it on my desk at this very moment...A Farlow Regal, 3 1/2", wide drum (1 1/2"). This one seems to have more bits to the drag system than the one exposed by doing a search on this forum (can't remember whose that was).

'A7784' stamped on one side of the reel foot, 'I 47 1' stamped on the other side.

'1' stamped on the spool, winding plate and innards.

Any ideas as to...

Hardy USA moving to Lancaster,PA

I am led to believe that Hardy USA is moving away from association with Cortland Line Co. , Cortland, NY, to Lancaster, PA. What are the specific plans for Lancaster, PA ? If you have any information please share it with members of the Board. Thank you.

I own 3 Sage 500 series reels, 505L, 506L and 508, all made by Hardy. One problem I've had and many other owners as well, is that I keep losing the plastic cap that covers the spindle nut. They could have done a better job on this aspect of an otherwise fine reel.
1. Does anyone know why they didn't use a cover similar to the Princess instead of these cheesy plastic things?
2. It's obvious that I'm going to have to glue these little buggers in place. Any suggestions...

I was supposed to have spent much of this week in the mountains fishing, but the weather turned sour.
Life in a one-man tent isn't all that great if you have to spend most of your day in it, so I headed back to town.

On my way home I stopped in a little town, and went into a sporting goods store, just to have a look. Their
fishing section wasn't much to look at, but amongst three fly reels on display was a Hardy Marquis 8/9.

Can anyone suggest a basic set of good gunsmith scredrivers that would be suitable to work on Godfrey, Bellinger, Saracionne etc trout reels - for simple maintainence - cleaning and lubing? Trying to avoid buggering screwheads. Thanks.

I had quite a weekend at an estate sale . Bought 4 reels and just can't quite figure one of them out . It's 3 1/2" dia. and appears to be made from magnetic ( 400 series ) stainless steel . It's marked as follows : ( printed in caps ) U C O ( then under that in cursive ) Steelhead Spin Fly ( then under that printed in caps ) PAT. APP. I'll try to post some pics later ( probably much later ) when I can get some help from my son . I'm mainly hopeing that someone...

3 3/8" LHW Perfect

I have a friend who has a virtually new LHW 3 3/8" Perfect. It's the last model with the brown line guide and the volcano-shaped bump on the back side. Everything is there, including a spare retaining screw for the spool. It's professionally engraved with his name and the casting competition he won it in at a famous fishing club. Any ideas as to value?

It seems like I've seen these before but my gray cells are getting grayer. I'm drawing a blank as to what these are and how they were used. The handle is missing obviously missing. The logo of a double fish and crest is familiar but I can't place it. It is very well machined and spins easily. Thanks in advance for your help?

Here is a 2 1/2" brass reel that I found lately - before I have the handle replaced (and I would be interested in the correct handle type for it) - also the rough value of the reel and some idea of date ( I am speculating 1870 'ish but do not know brass reels).

The reel has the external 'Strong Arm' logo for Milward but has wonderful internal markings 'VXX' to all the parts which suggest (to me) probably a Heaton made reel, nicely pierced foot also (shame...

Questions about a Hardy LRH Lightweight

Last week I bought a used Hardy 3-3/16" LRH Lightweight reel with the 2-screw line guard and blue and cream plastic zippered case. It came from an estate, has SA DT5F line on it and is in great condition.

I don't know much about this reel, and my only other Hardy reels are an early Orvis CFO IV and a pair of 1980's Sunbeams, so I would appreciate some help from Forum members.

I recently picked up a LHW wide spool Mk 1 Bellinger from a friend and find the outgoing tension to be too stiff for my preference -- especially when half the line is out and the effective spool size is small.
