After receiving an e-mail "warning", I had to scan a few postings to find an otherwise (dis)honorable comment regarding an "Antique Brass Austrian Scale" that a "retired member of Air Force Brass" (and I'm not talking of certain parts of his anatomy!) had posted, with an aside as to it being appropriate to use in measuring the weight of a bead head.

I should point out the this individual's constant raiding of my fly...

Seems as if one very active member of this BAMBOO ROD FORUM (1575 posts, or so, and climbing) was out fishing for spotted dace in WI with his monstrous BH bombs last week, and was once again sighted using a 9' Orvis PLASTIC pole on a stream you can step across. Now, I can see protecting your bamboo rods by not fishing for King Salmon with them, but for 6" trout? Gimmee a break.
Anyway, after he was finished disgracing his bamboo brotherhood, his hand slipped while disassembling...

New reel Smith display case

A couple of days ago I happened to be mooching around a department store when I spotted a display of mens socks made with - of all things - bamboo. They seemed pretty regular as socks go, but of course I had to purchase a pair! I'm wearing them as I type this, and I have to say, my feet are lovin' it!

Just a general question - I need some advice on the best balance of price (as in cheapest) and service for a domestic US flight into Chicago - Frontier seems to be the cheapest but will not allow checked baggage above 65" combined (L+W+D) which excludes the rod carrier/box I need to check in.

Repair of leather rod cases--recommendations?

I have a couple reasonably valuable rod cases that have seen better days--for instance, one has a broken carrying strap, one has lost its leather end cap. One of these is an 1890s Kosmic case--rare as rare can be. I'd like to have these repaired properly & with sensitivity.

Does anyone have a repair guy who has actually worked on high quality cases that they can recommend? Thanks!

Well, it took me 8 years but I finally have enough miles on Northwest to get a free ride. However, I'm worried that with all the changes and cutbacks in flights in the airline industry and their likely merger with Delta that they're going to up the miles you need for a free ticket. So I'm thinking that maybe I need to take a trip out West this fall. I know when you get into October that a lot of the fishing is with streamers, but I was wondering how late you can still fish...

I couldn't resist........my 4 year old neice Inara, resplendent in her Dora the Explorer outfit and matching rod with her very first fish. The look on her face says it all. Yep, she's as hooked as that perch. Next summer maybe it's on to bamboo and trout!
